1/21
191.2 which isn't too bad, considering we had a big dinner last night at a friend's house. No gym today since the kids are off school today and tomorrow.

Weekend
Saturday 192...Sunday 190.6
Went to the gym on Saturday, but think the 3 days in a row was too much for my body. After the treadmill, I only spent ten minutes on the recumbant bike...instead of my usual 30.

1/18
191....but that's still down 2.4 since last Friday. It will be a while before I stop weighing myself daily. That's usually when I tend to slip food-wise. Went to the gym and did some running on the treadmill. Just a couple minutes at a time, but it brought my mile to about 17 minutes, instead of the usual 20ish. It's helpful that I made a playlist on my phone to listen to instead of watching the tv's or listening to the gym's music. Not that they play bad stuff...just rather listen to stuff I know will get me going, and loud enough to drown out the background noise of others around me. Did 6.5 miles (hills for 30 minutes) on the recumbant bike. Total calorie burn was about 250.
1/17
190.6 a mile on the treadmill and 6 on the recumbant bike. I had a couple eggs before leaving for the gym, but was still ravenous when I got home. I behaved and had a cuke, some cashews and a few slices of pepperoni with a cup of coffee (first of the day).

Snow day
Grr scale still says 192.8. I think it may have something to do with my eating schedule. I haven't had anything with my coffee the past few days and end up eating my first 'meal' around 10:30. Today is also supposed to be a gym day, but it's not happening since the kids have a snow day. Hubby has a long day at work, so I wouldn't be able to go til after the kids were asleep. I'll just go in the morning. Though I did shovel the driveway and break a little sweat. It had to burn SOME calories, right?
The verdict is in on the gf breadcrumbs I used on last night's chicken. Rubbery. The italian seasoning was ok, but I have a hard time getting past textures. Plus the main ingredients were brown rice flours, which apparently spike blood sugar too, so it wasn't even worth it. Oh well, live and learn.

Groceries
Weight this morning was 192.8, not sure why it was up. Perhaps since dinner was a heavier beef soup? It will come back down though.
I went looking for various ingredients this morning. Started at Trader Joe's. All I got that was gluten-free for cooking was almond meal. Shaw's had the coconut flour and baking Stevia in the Raw. It measures cup for cup of sugar, which was what I wanted. Also made an unplanned stop at Stop & Shop but found gluten-free bread crumbs and ground golden flaxseed. I'm gonna try out the bread crumbs tonight on some baked chicken.

191.8 burned 186 calories on the recumbent bike in 30 minutes and another 80 or so on the treadmill at an incline of 3 for 20 minutes

Sunday the 13th
190.8 this morning! I'm starting to expect a lower number every day at this rate. I know it's unrealistic, but nice while it's happening. No gym today, but will be there right after the kids get on the bus tomorrow.
1/12
I woke to a new number...192.8
At the gym went on the treadmill for 1.75 miles and spinning bike for 15 minutes (about 3 miles).

1/10
My hubby joined the gym yesterday. We were going to go together this morning, but my ankles are a little tender from all this cycling. So he got up with the kids and got them on the bus (which is rare due to his work schedule) and woke me up but I said no. I kinda feel bad, but I had decided to hit the gym on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I already went every day this week...so it's really that I've gone more than planned.
Last night I didn't snack, in hopes of figuring out if that has anything to do with weighing more in the morning. The scale said 193.4 so I think there is a connection.
Aaaannd I just got a call to remind me of an appointment tomorrow morning. Guess I will be hitting the gym tonight after dh gets home!
UPDATE...I went when dh got home from work. Did a mile on the treadmill and 2 miles of spinning.
1/9
I don't like my scale today, 194.8 despite going to the gym Monday and Tuesday. Though it might have something to do with snacking kinda late....even if it was just raw pecans. Went to the gym again this morning and did a hair under 7 miles on the bike. The treadmills were packed, so I found a few machines to do some leg extensions.

1/8
Normally I wouldn't go to the gym on a Tuesday, but I went this morning. 20 minutes and 4 miles on the spinning bike, then another mile on the treadmill. I'm liking the bike better right now, but trying to keep a variety. Weight was 194 this morning. Usually it goes down the morning after a trip to the gym, but not this morning. It's all good though, it will be down tomorrow for sure.

1/7
My friend has finally felt well enough to come to the gym with me. I did the 12 minute abs, 1.4 miles on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the bike. The one without the handlebars, not sure if that's the spinning bike I've heard of? Whatever it is, I will be doing it again :) I also got my first compliment about my abdomen looking smaller. That is the hi-light of my day since I carry my weight out front and am very self-conscious about it.
I gave in last night, and bought my copy of Wheat Belly the book to read on my son's Kindle. I find myself picking it up whenever I think I can get a chapter in. Knock on wood, it's going really well. My cravings are minimal and manageable. Let's hope it stays this easy :)

Friday weigh in
After I got the boys on the bus this morning, I had to make a bathroom stop. Holy moly. I don't know if it's common when eliminating wheat products, but I'm thoroughly cleaned out. Next stop was the scale. 195.2! Before New Year's Day, and the depressing sight of 203, I would have never been so excited to see that number. But I'm patting myself on the back for the 8lbs gone in just 4 days. When I'm hungry for a snack, I find myself reaching for either walnuts or pecans, instead of something with wheat. It's comforting that I can have as much as I want :) That and veggies. I love cucumbers, but don't like cutting them up for a salad or snack. Good thing I saw these smaller, baby-like cukes that come in packs of 8 or so. Just grab one and eat, can't get much simpler!

Gym day #2
I went and briskly walked on the treadmill for 1.5 miles again today. Got going at a good pace and actually started sweating.
Went to Wegman's afterward and got some food that's ok for me to eat (see blog entry from 1/2 about Wheat Belly). Lots of veggies and some other goodies for just me.

Happy dance
I survived yesterday dietary-wise. That's a pretty good thing. In my fridge, there are still 3 different kinds of fudge, not to mention the brownies and pretzels left over from New Years Eve.
This morning I stepped on the scale nearly nude, and it said 199. I was just too thrilled to see that and didn't see the decimal. Woohoo!!
I had made plans to go to the gym with a friend. Her membership allows a guest, though I wanted to sign up anyways. It's just better to go with a friend :) She ended up not being available, so I went and signed up. Enough time was left over that I spent 35 minutes on the treadmill. Gonna try to go again tomorrow while the kiddos are in school.

So it begins...
2013 is here. I haven't been paying any attention to my weight the last 6 months or so. Last time I had stepped on the scale, it was reading around 182. Some may say that isn't too bad for this 34 year old mother of 3. I had decided that the holidays were stressful enough, and would focus on weight and fitness in the new year. So, today being 1/1/13, I pulled the scale back out. Sure it was midday and I was fully dressed (in sweats, nothing heavy) and the fuckin thing said 203.2. I want to cry. At my heaviest, in pregnancies, I was 180. What in the hell made me break the 200lb point???
I was the child that was called to the guidance counselor's office to make sure I was being fed at home. I was all skin and bones as a child.
HOW DID I GET TO THIS??? Well that apparently doesn't matter, because it isn't going to last. I am getting this ass to the gym and eating better. These pounds will fall off one way or another. Wheat is leaving my diet. I'm easing into the Wheat Belly way of eating. So far today, I've had 2 cups of coffee, a slice of cheese, and raw veggies. No dip. Oh, and a handful of walnuts. Yum
